National Jeweler - Piece of the Week: Kwit Jewelry’s Square Signet Pinky Ring

Last week, our Piece of the Week explored colored gemstones and trend forecaster Paola De Luca’s projected “Spectrum Play” trend for the upcoming season, which highlights the use of color in jewelry.

This week, we look at another way that color is trending in jewelry—through the use of enamel.

Kwit’s square signet pinky ring takes the style of a classic monogramed signet ring and puts a modern spin on it with a variety of enamel colorways.

Our Piece of the Week showcases red and azure enamel over 14-karat yellow gold.

This is just one of eight enamel options for the piece, which redefines what neutral jewelry can be, said Kwit.

The brand’s founder and designer Karla Witukiewicz put these colorful enamel pairings together for her version of a signet ring, after having studied color theory.

When it comes to choosing colors, she said, “My eye is naturally drawn to what Mother Nature does—she does it best. I find inspiration in cooking, making flower arrangements, and making jewelry, and the farmers market drives it all.

“I’m constantly in awe of the vibrant colors in flowers, fruits, and vegetables—I touch them, pick the most beautiful ones, and let that process guide my color combinations.”

Witukiewicz added that sometimes she gives herself an objective to make the colorway feel sporty or whimsical, but she loves unexpected pairings and strives to create colorways that feel alive, harmonious, timeless, and always fresh.
