JCK - Fall’s Best Color Combinations Are a Little Unexpected
Autumn is upon us, and with it, the rich, moody hues we love to welcome each season. Except this year, we’re seeing them in contrast: oxblood with purple, cobalt with butter yellow, brown and black with chartreuse. With colored gemstones continuing to resonate and consumers drawn to designs that feel fresh and individual, these unexpected combinations bring brightness into fall while retaining that spark of personality shoppers increasingly want from their jewels.
For retailers, that might mean finding the perfect jewels that exhibit a combination of the two, or it might mean crafting a clever showcase. Either way, there’s plenty of inspiration coming from fashion.
Fall 2026’s runways have made a strong case for color that might seem unexpected for the season. Electric blue, butter yellow, royal purple, turquoise, vibrant red, and peach have all appeared alongside the more expected burgundies and browns. Vogue’s fall-winter summary singles out plum and chartreuse for the season, while fashion styling has embraced combinations including purple and red along with green and yellow.
